We are the third generation of Mizrahim in Israel and we still don’t know who we are: Left, Right; Yemen, Morocco, Iran, Iraq, Syria; periphery, and central Israel. They try to define us, split us up, minimize and limit our power. We believe that Mizrahi identity can transcend all this. The time has come to take some time for ourselves, to stop and think about who we are and where we’re going. BaMizrah seeks to generate a Mizrahi community, a space that has a place for culture, thought, Mizrahi history, the Mizrahi struggle, Mizrahi politics, music, traditions, and home. A place that allows us to understand who we are–after removing all the background noise–and how we can continue working, together.
